2016 ArkansasVarsity.com Football Combine MVP's Named

The 2016 ArkansasVarsity.com All-State Football Combine proved to be one of the best, if not the best, camp in the seven-year history of the event.

The talent on display was the best the ArkansasVarsity.com staff has seen at our event, and the competition was fierce. At the end of the day, eight young men earned MVP awards, and was recognized for their hard work at the end of the event by ArkansasVarsity.com staff members

The 2016 ArkansasVarsity.com All-State Football Combine MVP is Alex Roberts, a Class of 2017 running back from Cabot. Roberts ran a 4.45 forty-yard-dash, a 4.2 shuttle, bench pressed 225 pounds six times, and had a 10’2” broad jump. He proved to be the most talented athlete on the field in one-on-one and 7-on-7 drills, making multiple stellar plays throughout the afternoon.

Pulaski Academy freshman quarterback Ren Hefley earned QB MVP honors with a solid performance in the one-on-one and 7-on-7 portions of the day. He rana 4.87 forty-yard-dash, 4.73 shuttle, bench pressed 185 pounds 12 times, and had an 8’2” broad jump.

Benton Class of 2017 running back Brandon Hunter earned the running back MVP with both a solid performance in the combine portion, along with his performance in the one-on-one and 7-on-7 portions of the camp. He ran a 4.65 forty-yard-dash, 4.5 shuttle, bench pressed 225 pounds seven times, and has a 10’7” broad jump.

Hot Springs Lakeside wide receiver Caleb Dean earned the wide receiver MVP nod after making several spectacular catches in the one-on-one and 7-on-7 portions of the camp, to include multiple one handed receptions with a defender in his face. He ran a 4.8 forty-yard-dash, 4.25 shuttle, bench pressed 185 pounds six times, and had an 8’6” broad jump.

Hot Springs Lakeside offensive lineman Ethan Eye earned the o-line MVP award with a stellar performance in the one-on-one portion and the Trench Warfare portions of the camp. He ran a 5.4 forty-yard-dash, 4.8 shuttle, bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times, and had a 8’3” broad jump.

Benton defensive lineman Chandler Clift was very impressive throughout the day, and proved to be the best defensive lineman in the one-on-one drills and Trench Warfare, helping himself earn d-line MVP honors. He rana 5.2 forty-yard-dash, 4.41 shuttle, bench pressed 225 pounds 16 times, and had a 9-foot broad jump.

Pine Bluff linebacker Kyron Whaley earned the linebacker MVP award with an outstanding show of talent in the one-on-one and 7-on-7 portions of the camp, along with a solid combine performance. He ran a 4.6 forty-yard-dash, 4.47 shuttle, bench pressed 185 pounds 14 times, and had a 9’2” broad jump.

For the second year in a row, Benton defensive back Junior Hendrix earned the defensive back MVP award with a solid performance in every event throughout the day. He ran a 4.46 forty-yard-dash, 4.1 shuttle, bench pressed 135 pounds 16 times, and had a 10’8” broad jump.

West Memphis defensive back Rayshaad Hall earned the Sportsmanship Award by displaying a tremendous work ethic, great attitude, and willingness to push fellow competitors throughout the day. He ran a 4.62 forty-yard-dash, 4.56 shuttle, bench pressed 185 pounds six times, and had a 9’7” broad jump.

The ArkansasVarsity.com All-State Football Combine staff would like to congratulate each of these young men. Full results from the combine will begin being posted on Monday, May 23rd.
